I think so: Many societies have traditions of prolonged (compared to the us) midday napping. In certain mediterranean groups known for longevity this activity is the rule not the exception. My empirical observations have been that sleep patterns are very individual. A measure of health is absence of fatigue and depression. The happiest people sleep whenever and however they can, and whenever they feel a need.
