Warmer than Average: Infants don't regulate their body temperature well. In surgical situations, we use heat lamps and warm rooms to help. At home, in a nursery, the child can be wrapped/ covered better an so a temp a few degrees above normal room temp will work fine.

66-68 degrees F: The last thing you want to do is overheat a baby. Even newborns will cry if they are cool/chilled, but they will not cry if they are overheated. There is some evidence that overheating may have some association to some sids cases. Unless the child is under 2000g, was significantly premature and the doctor instructs you to keep nursery warmer, then 66-68 is ideal nursery temperature.
