Pulmonary embolus: It is not the infection per se that causes the pe but the risks it provides. Virchows triad of clot formation: if the cells are abnormal and clot easily as in people with cancer, if there is abnormality in the blood vessel causing turbulence and clot formation as in trauma in the blood vessel and presence of central lines and stagnation of flow as in immobility like in sickness or after surgery.
