Disuse atrophy botox: Botox works by by blocking a chemical reaction that occurs in muscle that allows the muscle to contract. Therefore, when Botox is injected into a muscle the muscle cannot contract. If a muscle contraction causes a wrinkle and the muscle is no longer contracting, the wrinkle goes away or the wrinkle does not form. Future wrinkles can be prevented as the muscles atrophy from disuse.

No: Aging is either intrinsic and realted to our genes and chronological age or the effects which most people call aging eg. Wrinkling and pigment changes, are caused by photodamage. Neither of these can be influenced by cosmetics which can make us appear younger, but not actually.

No: Botox relaxes muscles in the face thus reducing or removing the appearance of overlying wrinkles. WIth repeated use, wrinkles can be avoided or delayed. However, the true process of skin aging at the cellular level proceeds unaffected.

No, they do not.: Aging is a natural process that continues unabated but muscle paralytics, fillers etc help decrease the signs of aging.

No: Botox can only temporarily improve the look of your skin by relaxing the muscle fibers that can cause wrinkles and frown lines. It is derived from the botulinum toxin that causes tetnus. It has no anti- aging properties at all.

To some extent: Botox works by relaxing the muscles of facial expression. If you relax these muscles they don't work to form such deep wrinkles. Thus this portion of aging can be limited. Long term use of Botox can weaken the muscles over time as well. You will continue to lose volume and your skin will continue to thin, so Botox alone will not prevent aging, but it will help.
