Can you tell me if someone can be an acupuncturist if they are on morphine (buprenorphine) for chronic pain?

Not sure of question: Do you feel uncomfortable about them taking opioids and touting acupuncture or are you afraid they may slip with the needle? If you are that uncomfortable see another acupuncturist. Good luck.

Acupuncture: If the person's capacity to needle or to think through acupuncture treatment plans is in any way diminished by use of morphine - that should be avoided.

Depends on licensure: board in your state. You would need to divulge this fact in your application, and it would probably result in your needing some kind of clearance/supervision by a professional monitoring program. If you are just considering beginning training in this field, you should call the licensure board for acupuncturists and ask them directly. You shouldn't need to give your name.
