When during chronic kidney disease (ckd) do you need a transplant?

Dr. James Lin answered

Depend...: Yes to some, but it's a matter of when. Kidney transplant is done for CKD progressing to esrd stage which becomes insufficient to regulate water, electrolytes, acidity, and other homeostasis through kidneys. But the pace of worsening highly vary and is unpredictable due to the underlying disease and its effectiveness of care. So, talk with consulting nephrologist to address the related issues.
