First try: "bactrim" isn't as good as some of the other antibiotics, especially the tetracyclines. Don't ever use an antibiotic as sole treatment for acne. Isotretinoin / Accutane is your last resort unless you have cystic acne, for which nothing else will probably work. It's not for the faint-hearted but is a remarkably effective medication.
