If the injury: Was such that you went into shock and died, it would no longer be a non-lethal injury.

Shock: I think you are using the term shock as a psychological state ( common layman usage - something like swooning) separate from the medical term shock. If an injury causes medical shock then it is indeed a serious injury. Lot's of people have injuries that "shock" them. If they have a very fragile cardiac or nervous condition it is possible that the anxiety could kill. Voodoo is like this....
