Maybe: Massage falls under the category of "cam"- complementary/alternative medicine. This includes acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. Most of these treatments have some +ve studies suggesting they can be helpful for acute flares of back pain but very limited data as far as repeated treatments for chronic problems. With that said, they are generally safe and worth a try as "individual results may vary".
