I have a "shadow" on my lung. doctor ordered a ct scan, and it showed to test further, what does this mean?

Size matters.: Not sure what a shadow is. Ct will say nodule/mass/scar/fibrosis/ground glass opacities/etc. All have different meaning and work up. Need to know actual test results. F/u can be recheck ct or pet scan or even biopsy. Smoking history is a big part of this as well. Also if nodule or mass the size is very important. You can also see lymph nodes and this could be what they saw. Report would help.

Safety first: It just means that your doctor is doing his due diligence. The CT scan probably shows something in the lung that is not expected to be there. It could be an abnormal vessel, fluid, lymph nodes, scarring or a mass. It depends on what further testing your doctor is requesting. If you could give more information in terms of what further testing your doctor is recommending it would be helpful.
