Barking cough: A cough can occur from any one of a multitude of infections. Barking coughs are classically associated with croup - which is a children's infection. In adults, you might get a barking cough from a viral infection. Some of the viruses that do it include: the flu, a virus called parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, and RSV. If the symptoms are really bad you'll have to see your primary doc for help.
