Please tell me, could a lab tell the difference between concerta and focalin (dexmethylphenidate) xr in a urine sample?

Depends on tests: Kenneth G answered 8 months ago It all depends on the test they use. With a basic screen, amphetamine like drugs will look like the same things. If they do more sophisticated analysis, that's not the case. Now, the difference between Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) and Concerta is minimal. They are the same molecule, but Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) is the right-handed "dextro" isomer of methylphenidate vs Concerta which is a "racemic" mixture of left and right handed isomers. The dextro is considered to be the most active. If you're on Concerta, the urinary metabolite is d,l ritalinic acid. With focalin, (dexmethylphenidate) just d-ritalinic acid.
