The cough: You need to find out what is causing the cough and if the cough is persistent talk to your doctor who may prescribe a cough medicine for you. Perhaps the scarring at the incision site has made the area more sensitive to pain but you really need to call this to the surgeon's attention if this persists after you have recovered from the cough.
