Cough and fever: You may have developed complications of the illness that caused the cough in the first place. You should see your doctor for an examination to see if you need more treatment. Also you should definitely stop smoking.

Infection?: Could be infection of sinuses, bronchial tubes, even pneumonia, other. Smoking makes it worst and last longer. See md.
