My father has been battling depression for 3 years now. lately he has been making number 2 in his pants quite often everyday what is this?

This is a serious: Red flag. At age 79 he could have medical issues that may be responsible for this symptom. If depression is really severe he may be very regressed or so depressed that his impairment is causing him not to take care of basic life functions. He could also be suffering from dementia or pseudodementia from his depression. Has he been evaluated for this?
