In general...: It may not recover 100% of the function of the ankle ( range of motion, stability, pain free always, muscle strength etc.) if objective testing is done but over 90% will recover to the degree that you will have no conscious sensation that it hasn't not recovered completely. Return to full function can be hoped for and expected in the fractures are reduced anatomically usually requiring surgery.
