Is post-traumatic stress disorder something you can get over with time but no meds?

Yes, but...: As with most emotional problems, many people with ptsd do not seek or receive help. And sometimes even without treatment the symptoms gradually go away by themselves. But recovery usually comes sooner with professional help. This can be medication and/or psychotherapy. So meds are an option, often quite helpful, but not always necessary.

I agree with Dr.: Reidbord. If your ptsd is severe, it is likely that psychotropic medications will be necessary in order to make significant progress with the disease. Mild ptsd can often be treated without medications. With moderate ptsd a combination of therapy (cpt, emdr, vret) and medication is likely to give the strongest response.
