I received results of a ct scan which said that i had 'background emphysemic changes'. i have never smoked. what does this mean?

See a pulmonologist: The findings on ct may be mild or extensive and emphysematous changes can also be seen with environmental exposures (dusts, etc.), second hand smoke exposure, genetic predisposition, rheumatologic diseases, etc. How important the changes are depends on symptoms and lung function tests.
