A member asked:

Chiropractor said my pars fracture could still heal even though i injured it 7 months ago. she said to brace it, rest, and take tylenol (acetaminophen). is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes.: Your chiropractor gave you good advice. Typically the first line of treatment for a pars fracture, especially in someone so young like yourself, is bracing, rest and pain medications. Some anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen can interfere with bony healing and should be avoided. Only when a prolonged course of rest and bracing (i.e. 3-6 months) fails should you consider surgery.
