Lymph nodes: Your body probably was aware of the impending throat infection and fighting it off for 2-3 days prior to your feeling it. Enlarged lymph nodes can cause pain along ear / angle of jaw and down throat. Should pass as throat improves--if not, or if symptoms persist for more than 3-5 days, see your dr / an urgent care dr for exam.
