HOCM: Hypertrophic (obstructive) cardiomyopathy is abnormal thickening of the heart muscle which may interfere with normal function of the heart. If suspected, patient should be evaluated by a cardiologist. Based on severity, symptoms, findings on echo and risk factors, cardiologist may recommend medical therapy and/or further therapy such as defibrillator, or occasionally septal ablation or surgery.
