Some what: Depending on the severity, rhd can be controlled with medications. Penicillin keeps the strep in check to prevent recurrences. The ultimate treatment for rhd is commissurotomy or valve replacement but only in severe, symptomatic mitral stenosis. You can lead a normal life with treatment!
