I really want to lose some weight. what are some subtle changes i can make?

Lots of little thing: You are on the right track. Small subtle changes can be sustained, resulting in slow, steady results that can be maintained for a lifetime. Look at your diet for "mistakes". It is usually portion size or snacking. Sometimes, a food diary can help you identify changes. Plus, exercise a little more. The goal should be 0.5# lost/week. That's only 250 less calories/day. You can do it.
