Metoprolol: The tartrate is the shorter half time form and is likely what the xray folks suggested for taking nite before and 2hrs before. The succinate is a longer half time drug.

Tartrate: Tartrate is shorter acting (about 12 hours). Succinate lasts about 24 hours. Use the tartrate form and do what the x-ray people told you. It's most important that your heart rate be slow to maximize temporal resolution which depends on acquisition time and your heart rate. The shorter acting tartrate has a more rapid onset of action.
