It isn't necessarily: Unethical. I don't always share all of person's diagnoses with them at the time of initial diagnosis. Why? Because it can be overwhelming. It can be traumatic. I try to pace sharing in a way that is therapeutic. "first do no harm." I do consider sharing a diagnosis with the patient ; teaching them about it to be very important.
