Not long: Viruses are critters which live inside cells and must have nutrients of a cell to remain alive. Most will die rapidly after leaving the body unless retained in body fluids within cells in those fluids. This takes varying times to resolve. As a general rule HIV is not transmittable casually. It needs direct tissue contact. Blood, shared needles, sex, organ transplant.
