Needs work up: Nipple discharge is very common and most nipple discharge is not due to cancer. However, when there is blood in the discharge, it should be worked up to rule it out. It is very likely a papilloma, or another benign cause. A breast exam by your doctor or a breast specialist, a mammogram and a subareolar ultrasound should be the first steps.
