Yes: It can cause the intestine to stop working. You can get a stomach ulcer. In extreme cases, blood flow to the intestine can be severely reduced. Fluid can build up in the abdomen.

Yes, especially if: Shock is present. The decreased blood flow and therefore oxygen to the intestines can lead to injury of your intestines. Blood clots can also form in the tiny blood vessels to your intestines and prevent oxygen and nutrients from getting to your intestines.
