Mainly quad work: The medial collateral ligament is not directly treated by exercise. Such sprains need time, rest, ice/heat, and pain free exercise. Abnormal body mechanics need to be addressed. However, any knee injury benefits from directed physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the knee, especially the quadriceps. Many mcl (and even acl) injuries can be safely and confidently managed with pt.
