Influenza vaccine: Not likely. Although the vaccine was formerly made in eggs and people with egg allergy might react, that is no longer the case in usa. This may be something entirely different.

Itching: Itching is not a common symptom of a flu shot. You may be having an adverse reaction to the shot. For now take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to stop the itching. If itching gets worse see your doctor or go to the er.

May be Allergy: It is not too common but can happen as an allergic reaction to the shot. You can take over the counter Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for itching but if if gets worse consult your doctor.

No: Do not take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) except as a sleeping pill. Try otc hydrocortisone. See a dr if you are in distress. Reactions to flu shot are at the place where the needle went in. Antihistamine is not likely to help this, but if you wish to try it get a non-sedating one such as claratin, allegra, zyrtec. Get the generic. It is dangerous to take a sedating med such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) except at bedtime.

A 33-year-old female asked:

What is the best exercise to reduce tummy fat?

Dr. Jeffrey Sider

Lose wt, aerobics: Probably the best way to lose tummy fat would be to lose weight using aerobic exercise such as walking or cycling. Also you can work on strengthening your abdominal muscles. If you don't lose weight you probably not have the washboard abs one strives for.

What might cause my stomach to feel hard and be sensitive to touch?

Dr. Colin Kerr
Family Medicine 44 years experience
Hard tender stomach: The most common reason for a hard (probably distended) stomach that is tender to touch is gas. With severe intraperitoneal infections or inflammation this can also happen, but with these your entire abdomen is hard and you know you're really sick. Gas will pass by itself in an hour or two. If the pain lasts more than 24-36 hours, get it checked.

I am having stretch marks all over my stomach . I used to be very fat but now I am healthy and not able to find any cure for this .Please help?

Stretch marks: Think of stretch marks as a kind of scar. There is no cure for this problem which often looks better over time regardless of what treatment is used. Otc products such as Mederma are of no value.

What helps women lise belly fat(pooch) quickly?

Dr. Francine Mosley

Healthy takes time!: A belly doesn't develop a "pooch" overnight, and it won't go away overnight. If you have a pooch, for whatever reason, sit- or stand-up straight, suck-in your stomach to strengthen your belly muscles, trade water for soda pop and make good food choices. Your belly will look better.

A female asked:

I have flea bites on my skin. How can I make them stop itching? And how can I repel the fleas from biting me!?

Dr. Robert Kwok
Pediatrics 33 years experience
Over-the-counter med: For flea bites, one can take claritin, zyrtec, or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to block histamine that causes itching. Hydrocortisone 1% cream 2-3 times a day on the bites for about 5 days will help them go away. For more itch relief, one can put an anti-itch gel such as "itch-x" on bites. Itch-x has an anesthetic to numb the itch. If bites are growing or painful, a doctor can evaluate. "deep woods off" repels fleas.
