Herpes zoster: You are recovering from an infection by the very virus which can cause shingles elsewhere, and depending upon the extent of healing, might become asymptomatic within the next 4-6 weeks. Drugs such as gabapentin, lyrica, (pregabalin) cymbalta, may help a lot. Rarely, post-herpetic neuralgia can persist longer, but unusual in my experience to see in ramsay-hunt syndrome.
