Otherwise, pernicious anemia, (due to lack of intrinsic factor production) is not commonly observed in association with thyroid disorders. Hypothyroidism is far more common ; rates increase with increasing age. But association does not prove causation.

Pernicious anemia: Pernicious anemia is usually caused by an autoimmune disease. Patients with auto immune disease can also get thyroid disease as well.
