Generally No.: Perhaps, in rare cases of a broad autoimmune manifestation destroying both gastric parietal cells ; thyroid cells, there may be an association. Otherwise, pernicious anemia, (due to lack of intrinsic factor production) is not commonly observed in association with thyroid disorders. Hypothyroidism is far more common ; rates increase with increasing age. But association does not prove causation.

Pernicious anemia: Pernicious anemia is usually caused by an autoimmune disease. Patients with auto immune disease can also get thyroid disease as well.
