Yes: If it is in fact a ganglion cyst, which arises from a joint, most often the wrist, it may rupture or be drained, but they usually eventually return. The most effective way to permanently get rid of it is with a minor surgical procedure to excise it down at its origin near the joint space.

Yes: It is not unusual for a ruptured ganglion to return. If it continues to bother you it is time to see your doc.
