Straight & symmetric: The newest esthetic dentistry is actually minimally invasive & conservative dentistry. 20 plus yrs ago, lots of people were getting porcelain veneers for their upper front 6 teeth. Today, the best cosmetic dentists are recommending that patients get their crooked teeth aligned into esthetically pleasing arch forms, lighten their teeth by bleaching, then decide if restorative work is needed.

Natural: Rather than making things perfect, i prefer to idealize the two front teeth. Then, fingerprint adjacent teeth so they belong, but make them slightly different. Breaking up perfection fools the eye and creates a result that defies detection. This can be accomplished conservatively, and with the use of computerized dentistry, or cerec.

Natural: Cosmetic dentistry has gone through different phases. In the past ten years a lot of "basic" cosmetic dentistry has been done: basic veneers, basic bonding, some whitening. Patients are more sophisticated now about what they want. Experienced cosmetic dentists are creating smiles that blend in and don't look perfect or like a mouth full of too many or too white teeth.

Take your pick: Depends upon your perspective. If you live in l.A., the white and brite and dazzling is still probably it. If you are a regular individual , not in the spotlight and don't need to light up the room, then that's another story. Always, clean, healthy, proportional teeth are wonderful. Need them a bit brighter -- whiten or veneer / crown. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Natural looking: A perfect, natural looking smile that is well proportioned to the face and especially the lips.

This does not change: There is not a particular style that is the newest "look". The smile is not like a new look hairstyle, not like a new style of handbag, not like wearing pants hanging down, not like skinny jeans..... The smile can be whatever one wants it to be. There is no "new look"....

No such animal: Techniques, materials, and equipment are always improving, but there is no such thing as "newest look".

Natural, bright, healthy: The best smiles now are the ones that don't look "done". You want to look like a lucky soul that was born with stunning teeth instead of one that had a lot of dental work done. Straight, bright, natural, healthy teeth and gums are the look to achieve.

Depends: Depends on the eye of the patient.

Natural: I've been performing "natural" minimally-invasive dentistry since I graduated dental school. Often the best dental "restoration" is none at all. That is why I'm a fan of Dental Ozone for tooth remineralization.

Changing: The latest trends in cosmetic dentistry do change over time. A while back super white "Hollywood" style teeth were very popular. Now it seems that naturally white looking teeth is the preferred look of many. The "look" of the final cosmetic smile should take into consideration sex, race, and personality. What is popular in the cosmetic dentistry magazines may not be the perfect look for you.

Latest look: There is no such thing as the "latest look". Esthetic dentistry is highly personal depending on the condition of the patient's mouth and dentition and what they see in the mirror. The "Latest Look" is a healthy, properly aligned dentition making the esthetic zone "drop dead gorgeous.

Timeless: Mercifully, this isn't something that really changes over the short term. Some fads come and go in dentistry like anything else, but pleasing dental esthetics are not very prone to shifts in fashion. On the other hand, different cultures have radically different ideas of pleasing esthetics so it depends on where you live more than when you live.

Normal: What your normal would look like. If your teeth are normal, then your acquaintances would never notice them. If the teeth are notices, then something is not normal.
