I woke up choking and have a swollen & bleeding uvula. what causes this and any home treatments? thanks.

2 possibilities: The are several possibilities. The first is that you could have uvulitis, an infection of the uvula similar to strep throat. For this you could need to be treated with an antibiotic. The second possibility is that the uvula may be getting injured from loud, vigorous snoring. If this continues to occur, then it my be necessary for you to be evaluated for sleep apnea.
