Muscle strain, or...: The most common reason is muscle spasm in that area caused by your posture or a repetitive activity. But since you've had cancer, we have to keep that in mind. Try some gentle stretches, massage, and a heating pad, and make an appointment to follow-up with your oncologist. Also, pay attention to your body mechanics!

See a Doctor: Many things can cause back pain. Not sure what kind of cancer you had but you need an evaluation to make sure it has not metastasized to the lung or bone.
