Responding to med: Should resolve. Stay with bran and fluids, and perhaps some yogurt since you likely had antibiotic at time of surgery.

If you are not: Taking iron , dark colored stool may be due to GI bleeding call your surgeon and also for follow up visit.

Check with your doct: Constipation is common after hernia surgery. Dark colored stool could represent blood in the stool. You should check with your surgeon. They can test the stool for blood.
