Both are effective: Both mirtazepine and sertraline are effective antidepressants, but individual people may respond better to one than the other. The real question is what is the best treatment for you. This may require trying some different approaches -- including psychotherapy that accompanies treatment with medicines.

BOTH: Some day we'll be able to chart your genetics and pick exactly the right medication. Currently we're not there yet. Some respond better to one, some to another and some to something entirely different deprnding on the type of depression. Team up woith your dr to see what's right for you.
