Antibiotic overuse: It all depends on the duration of your cough. Is there green sputum coming out? Do you have fever? Do you smoke? Have copd? Chronic cough can be cause by non-infections causes such as reflux (gerd), a variant of asthma, etc. The clinical exam should be important...Are you wheezing? Are you short of breath? Your doc may be right. Postnasal drip is a major contributor of chronic cough. Ask him.
