Find the cause: There are varied causes of nonproductive cough. Most common is allergic rhinitis, but not far behind is an undiagnosed asthma or reactive airways. Then there is gerd, and there is even a parasite that can cause it (called in perpetual copulation state, lol) found in the upper airway, but rare. Treating the cause is the best. Use of cough suppressant is resorted to for comfort. So go to your md.
