How dangerous is serous otitis media?

Nothing specific: Serous otitis starts as normal fluid made on the walls of the middle ear that fails to exit through the eustachian and the throat. Any structural, irritant, allergic or infectious process that causes the eustachian tube to swell can trigger this. It can last for weeks or months before resolving. It could become secondarily infected and become a true ear infection requiring antibiotics.
