Not Bell's palsy: Bell's palsy is facial weakness or paralysis that has no definite cause and may be due to a viral infection. Facial palsy from forceps trauma is usually temporary since the nerve is bruised and not actually cut. This weakness can days days or months to recover depending on how badly the nerve was injured. Permanent weakness is rare.
