A member asked:

Supposing you had myocarditis (inflammation of heart) caused by alcohol. would cessation restore your heart to its normal state and after how long?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Myocardiopathy: If you have myocardial damage due to alcohol, cessation of alcohol is absolutely necessary. If it is stopped before too much damage is done, then decent function may remain. Myocarditis is not exactly the pathology of alcohol damage which is toxicity rather than primarily inflammatory.
