Pretty quick: A low imperforate anus in a newborn baby is repaired with a primary anorectoplasty on the bottom; no initial colostomy is required. The baby should start pooping within the first day after the procedure and can often be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days, if there are no other congenital problems or complications. The baby is probably fully recovered in a couple of weeks.
