A member asked:

If the eyelid is closed, could the aqueous humor press onto or into the iris resulting in injury?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Aqueous surrounds the iris from front and back. Elevation of the internal eye pressure which is not much from the eyelids, is equalized and will cause no harm. A blow to the eye can send a shock wave through the aqueous which can damage the iris muscle and cause some degree of permanent dilation.
