A member asked:

I had a the automated static perimetry test. i looked around and closed the eye not being tested during the test. could this cause my results to show upper vision field defects?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

For the automated perimetry test to be accurate, the person being tested must maintain fixation on the central target throughout the test. While it would not matter if the eye not being tested was closed, if one eye is looking around then both eyes are looking around, and fixation on the central target would not be maintained. This would lead to poor test reliability and inaccurate results.
