A member asked:

If someones head accidentally bumped into my left eye at a high speed (from 12 to 24 inches away), will i get an increased risk of developing glaucoma in the future (since glaucoma can result from trauma)? my eyelid was closed during the impact?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would not worry about it, it is usualy a more significant injury that causes glaucoma. Traumatic glaucoma is any glaucoma caused by an injury to the eye. This type of glaucoma can occur both immediately after an injury to the eye or years later. It can be caused by injuries that “bruise” the eye (called blunt trauma) and injuries that penetrate the eye. I do not think you bruised your eye.
