Pneumonitis: Pneumonitis is an inflammatory process of the lung, like pneumonia, due to numerous potential causes. Basal simply refers to the location of the Pneumonitis: at the lung bases, or one of the lowermost segments of the lung. In other words, the bottom part of the lung.
