In easy to understand words, what is food intolerance?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Food intolerance: Some foods don't agree with everyone. If your body does not make the natural chemicals to break down a food, you may not digest it well. This can cause nausea, stomach cramps, gas, diarrhea or vomiting. An allergy reaction may cause hives or swelling. You may need to avoid that food for a while (or sometimes longer). Some people will grow out of these problems and can have those foods again.
