Foot bones: Each has its own names: heel bone is calcaneus, talus sits atop the calcaneus, there is the cuboid, navicular, three cuneiforms, cuboid, 5 metatarsals and then 5 toes. The big toe is known as the hallux. The hallux is composed of two bones a proximal and distal phalanx. The toes 2-5 each have three bones known as proximal, middle and distal phalanges.
